Why train at WOOFS!

Experienced, professional dog trainers

We don’t just love dogs—we understand how they tick. Our instructors are highly certified dog trainers with many years’ experience and a commitment to ongoing education in our field.

Skilled classroom instructors

We’re also committed to good teaching, employing active classroom instructional and management strategies to ensure a fun, effective experience for all canine and human students.

Science-based, dog- and people-friendly methods

In an unregulated industry we use only the most up-to-date, humane, dog- and human-friendly training methods to ensure a good time is had by all while achieving excellent performance results.

Real-life results

Speaking of results, what good are they in the classroom if you can’t replicate them at home and out in the world? Our curriculum sets you up to enjoy a well-behaved dog in every day real life.

Adult Basic Obedience

group manners dog training class

It’s never too late or too early to learn basic manners. If you’re after a dog who comes when called, walks politely by your side, stays where asked, and sits to say hello to family members, guests, and strangers, Basic Obedience class is the perfect fit. Using clickers and an innovative approach we call Tranquil Training, we’ll turn your unruly, seemingly hearing-impaired pooch into a calm, focused, responsive companion.

Class covers attention, sit, down, stay, come when called, loose-leash walking, and polite greetings.

And if your dog is more of a homebody you’ll benefit from the focus on responding to cues regardless of distraction.

Advanced Obedience

group manners dog training class

Various Advanced Obedience classes polish your dog’s basic manners to a shine, building an ever-higher level of focus and responsiveness to your requests. We’ll add precision, too. Faster sits and downs, for example, and turning loose-leash walking into a formal heel when you want or need it. We’ll also work on reducing reliance on food reinforcements, and advanced attention around significant distractions. Add to that cues at a distance and transitioning to responsiveness off leash and you’ve got a dog you can rely on anywhere, in any situation. Interested in Rally Obedience, AKC Obedience, Fenzi TEAM titles or other obedience sports? Would you just like to have a higher level of focus and attention when you take your dog out in public? We have you covered.

In Sports Obedience class, you will practice heeling, fronts, finishes and other precision obedience, as well as behavior chains and other advanced training concepts. Custom coaching toward your own personal training objectives is always included.

In Rally Obedience class, you’ll learn obedience signs and exercises for Rally Obedience competition and you’ll string them together on sample courses. Not interested in competition? The skills you practice on a Rally course are the very same ones needed to navigate traffic, crowds and major distractions.

There is a wealth of advanced material to cover, so every 7 week session is a little different. Your requests and personal goals will influence the course of the class.

Canine Good Citizen

group manners dog training class

An alternative—or addition—to Advanced Obedience, this course sets you up to learn and practice the elements of the American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Test. Focused on skills like friendly greeting of strangers, sitting politely to be pet, walking nicely on leash through a crowd, and advanced stays and recalls, passing the CGC test comes with excellent bragging rights. It also carries privileges—many landlords require a CGC certificate for renting, and certain workplaces will allow dogs with a CGC to accompany their people to work.
